Delegates at the National Islamic Convention resolved to exemplify the
purity and benevolence of Islam in their daily lives and to take their
social and civic responsibilities more seriously. They also pledged
millions of dollars to support Community Development projects proposed
by the Guyana Islamic Trust. The National Islamic Convention,
organized by the Guyana Islamic Trust was held on July 17 & 18, 2010
at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Liliendaal, under the
theme: Purifying Souls, Building Communities for a Better Guyana.
Hundreds of Muslims from all across Guyana, as well as several Muslim
scholars and speakers from North America participated in the
Convention.
